Benares Indian Restaurant

My favorite Indian Restaurant in Manhattan, i love ordering from Benares. Their service is always impeccable and food is crazy delicious. A lot of Indian food choices, I love taking my friends and colleagues to this place for Lunch or Dinner.

Delicious. Soy tikka masala is excellent. I usually order delivery but I picked up once and had wonderful service at the bar and the restaurant is so charming. My favorite place for Indian in lower Manhattan...possibly all of NYC!

Beneras has the best Chicken Tika Masala in the city! They are extremely nice and very accommodating to their guests. The manager is really nice love that guy!

Food always arrives fast, curries taste great, good level of spice, good variety. Naan breads are fantastic. I keep coming back for more.

Very good Indian. Would highly recommend. Always get the order right and the ingredients are always fresh.

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Even more so for vegetarians! That is the only way to describe their Chili Chicken, which they can make with soy on request. This might be my favorite Indian dish of all time. Incredibly spicy even without asking for it to be extra hot (and believe me, I have a high tolerance -- I douse food in habanero sauce and sprinkle ghost pepper powder on everything). Besides that, it's still incredibly flavorful and it comes in a reasonably large portion size to boot. I also really like their Soy Tikka Masala, although I have had marginally better sauce before, and their Paneer Bhurji. Vegetarian or not, you have to give this place a try if you like Indian food. On top of their excellent food they are very friendly and accommodating on the phone as well. I'm pretty sure they can make any sauced chicken dish with fake chicken (their "soy" option). The only downside is that they're a bit pricy, but for a nice dinner it's not so terrible.

After the absolute worst experience on seamless courtesy of another LES Indian restaurant, was close to foregoing any future forays for Indian food in the area. I'm glad we took another chance. Benares redeemed the cuisine plus some. From the Chicken Vindaloo to the Lamb Biryani to the Saag Paneer and Kolhapuri Misal the food was uniformly fresh and as good as any enjoyed this side of London. While the wait was close to 75 minutes, the food did arrive hot and ready to eat and exactly as ordered. Oh and the traditional side sauces all were also very fresh and some of the best had anywhere. Big thumbs up and highly recommended. There is hope after all for Indian food lovers in the LES! Enjoy

OMG this food is exceptional! I was not expecting much as Ive never eaten at Benares as I usually go out to Tamarind.

The great:

- on time and fast delivery and its 19 degrees outside (I live in south Battery park City)
- succulent and delicious chicken tikka (omg)
- delicious seekh kabob (omg)
- paneer makhani (hella spicy - but its authentic Indian food!)
-warm delicious garlic naan

I am so happy with this food - will definitely order again (and again, and again)

While I usually allow my Indian friends to order for me, this time I had to make choices, so I tried scallops and lamb appetizers, a chicken, shrimp and lamb and vegetarian main dishes, 2 naans and hoped my friends would enjoy. RESULT - "That was Amazing - and I haven't said that to a man in long time." SUCCESS. Moreover, the delivery was prompt and the food hot. No complaints..

Awesome!! So happy to have found this place! I quit eating Indian food the last 2 years (even though it's my favorite!) because my delivery orders from other places were usually disgusting. So far, this place has given me two of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten. (one time delivery was quick, the other time it was slow but worth it).
